 How to Install

To install, double click setup.exe from within the WinZip
window. Alternatively, extract all the files in the .zip
to a temporary folder, then run setup.exe from there.


Installation Problems

If the installation program displays an Error dialog
Installation failed, the problem is that your Windows
installation did not correctly provide support for .inf
setup files in the registry.

.inf file support requires correct registry settings,
otherwise either the "Install.." item will not show up on
the context menu or it can't be executed properly.


Option 1. Attempt to fix the registry

The.zip file includes files for repairing the registry:

INFfix95.REG ... for Windows 95 and 98
INFfixNT.REG ... for Windows NT 4

These files assume that Windows was installed in
C:\WINDOWS.

Double click the appropriate file for your operating
system.

These files are also available from the Crystal Software
web site home page, http://www.crystalsoftware.com.au


Option 2. Manual install
Note - this option does not create Start Menu items, add
a shortcut on the desktop, create file associations or
Send To locations.

1.   Extract all files in the .zip to folder C:\Program
Files\Crystal Software\[program name] e.g. for TextPipe

  C:\Program Files\Crystal Software\TextPipe
  
2.   Double click LFNrenew.bat to create the correct
  install folders and convert the short filenames to the
  correct long filenames
3.   For TextPipe only , double click textpipe_reg.reg to
  create the registry entries


Option 3. Re-install Windows
If none of the above options work, then the required DLL
DLL files (Windows 95: SetupX.dll, Windows NT:
SetupAPI.dll) are missing. In this case, you have already
destroyed relevant parts of his Windows installation and
should re-install Windows.
